Marco Peña as Guest Artist in Benefit Concert: February 17, 2018
Marco A. Peña was invited to participate in a benefit concert that took place on February 17, 2018, in the prestigious Auditorium of Las Cámaras in Quito, Ecuador, organized and implemented by Jorge Boada, a distinguished engineer, a Rotarian, pianist, and a childhood friend of Marco. This event Celebrando la Amistad was dedicated to the victims of the devastating 2016 earthquake in the coast of Ecuador, and was supported by the Rotary Club Latitud Cero. Mr. Marcelo Avila, representative of the Club Latitud Cero welcomed the audience, praising the efforts of Mr. Jorge Boada for organizing and rallying such talented artists around a humanitarian endeavor.
Established Ecuadorian artists with international reputations like Beatriz Parra, well known lyric soprano, and his daughter Beatriz Parra Gil, charmed the audience with their charisma and musical interpretations accompanied by guitarist Rodrigo Rodríguez and pianist Jorge Boada. Marco Peña included in his selections the beautiful melody of El cóndor pasa with his lyrics, an allegory capturing the Inca pride, hope and promise; he was accompanied by Tadeo Gangotena a young, promising pianist who graduated from Roosevelt University, under the guidance of the renowned Mexican pianist Jorge Federico Osorio. The featured artist, guitarist Rodrigo Rodríguez, and other Ecuadorian instrumentalists shared the stage with the vocal artists and charmed the audience with their virtuosity: Terry Pazmiño, David Boada Zurita, guitarists; two North American musicians, Matt Rexford, pianist and Sharon Gerbert, cellist joined the program after offering a wonderful concert the night before, featuring Rodrigo Rodríguez at the prestigious stage of Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana. An entholled audience rewarded the artists with standing ovations.
The pictures depict the magnitude and work in progress of the development called Villa Alegría, being built in Muisne, Esmeraldas, under the auspices of Rotary Club Latitud Cero and the generous donation of Sociedad Cívica Ecuatoriana of Chicago This locality sustained the most damage caused by the natural disaster of 2016.


Marco A. Peña participa, como artista invitado, en la velada artistica que se llevó a cabo el 17 de febrero, 2018, en el prestigioso Auditorio de Las Cámaras, en beneficio de los damnificados del terremoto que causó enormes daños en la provincial de Esmeraldas. Esta velada benéfica apoya la construcción de “Villa Alegría” que el Club Rotario de Quito “Latitud Cero” está construyendo en Muisne, Esmeraldas, una de las localidades más afectadas por el desastre natural. Prestigiosas artistas ecuatorianas como Beatriz Parra, conocida soprano lírica, y su hija Beatriz Parra Gil tomaron parte en la velada. Instrumentalistas ecuatorianos con renombre internacional amenizaron el evento. Entre ellos, los guitarristas Rodrigo Rodríguez,, Terry Pazmiño, David Boada Zurita, Tadeo Gangotena, pianista, y los músicos estadounidenses Matt Rexford, piano, y Sharon Gerbert, cellista. Ante una audiencia emocionada los artistas recibieron generosas ovaciones junto con El Señor Marcelo Avila, representante del Club Latitud Cero.
